Dr. Francisco holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences (Bachelor's and Teaching degrees) from the Institute of Biosciences at the University of São Paulo (IB/USP). He earned both his Master's and Ph.D. in Sciences (Biology/Genetics) also from IB/USP, including a sandwich period at the University of Sydney (Australia). He completed postdoctoral research at USP and Harvard University (USA). With teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate courses, he has served as a tenured professor (UEG) and visiting professor (USP, UFBA, UFU, and UFSCar). He is the co-founder and CEO of GenoBiomas Biotecnologia (genobiomas.com), a startup focused on modulating the gut microbiome to enhance animal health and performance, with projects funded by FAPESP. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Petbiomas (petbiomas.com), the first company in Latin America specialized in microbiome analysis for dogs and cats. His work spans Evolutionary Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, and Entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on practical applications for animal health, sustainability, and biotechnological innovation.
