Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Centro de Tecnologia  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Osvaldo Chiavone holds a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from FEI University Center (1985), a master's degree in chemical engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, PEQ-COPPE (1988) and doctorate (PhD) in chemical engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (1993). He is currently full professor at Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Active research experience is observed in chemical thermodynamics applied to the design of processes and waste treatment, using advanced oxidation techniques. The following themes have been studied: phase equilibria, photodegradation, physicochemical properties, such as phase equilibrium, density, pH, electrical conductivity, etc., and development of experimental procedures and devices, such as PvTxy/solubility cell, and systems of remediation, flotation, extraction, adsorption, distillation, sorption, and reactors for photodegradation of organic contaminants with solar and artificial radiation, and chemical oxidation.
