He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), a master's degree in Veterinary Medicine-Veterinary Pathology from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP-Jaboticabal) and a PhD in Veterinary Sciences-Veterinary Parasitology from UFRRJ. He is a Full Professor of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases at the Darcy Ribeiro State University of Northern Fluminense (UENF), where he was coordinator of the Veterinary Medicine Course from 2002 to 2006 and Head of the Animal Health Laboratory from 2011 to 2014 and is currently coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Veterinary Medicine. He was a PQ/CNPq-1B SCHOLARSHIP HOLDER from 2009 to 2012 and YOUNG SCIENTIST OF OUR STATE from 2013 to 2016, in addition to SCIENTIST OF OUR STATE from 2017 to 2021. He is currently a Productivity Scholar in Research, Technological Development and Innovative Extension at UENF. He is the leader of the Clinical Research group on Parasitic Diseases of Production Animals with the following Research Lines: Laboratory animals as a model for the study of diseases observed in production animals; Diseases that affect production animals. He has experience in the area of Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on Biology and Pathogenesis of Parasitic Diseases. The company works mainly on topics related to important parasitic diseases in One Health, such as: coccidiosis caused by protozoa of the genera Sarcocystis, Toxoplasma, Isospora and Cryptosporidium and their relationships with production animals as definitive and intermediate hosts and disseminators of these protozoa between animals and humans. In addition to worm infestations caused by endoparasites of the superfamilies Tricostrongyloidea, Ascaroidea, Metastrongyloidea and Strongyloidea and systemic diseases such as fasciolosis. The company is currently developing a line of research in traditional and advanced diagnostics of emerging and reemerging zoonotic parasites, in addition to new epidemiological studies focused on improving the control of these parasiticdiseases.
