Marcelo Eduardo Pfeiffer Castellanos

He holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (1996), as well as a master's degree (2003) and a PhD in Public Health (2007), from UNICAMP. He completed a postdoctoral degree in sociology at Université Pierre-Mendès-France (with support from CAPES - 2014-2015) and in public health at FCM/Unicamp (2024). For three months, he completed a senior internship as a visiting professor at the University of Virginia (2023-2024), supported by CAPES. He is an associate professor at the Institute of Public Health (ISC/UFBA), where he coordinated the Undergraduate Course in Public Health (2009-2012) and the Postgraduate Program in Public Health (2019-2023), being a permanent professor of the latter since 2013. In 2025, he assumed the coordination of the Technical-Scientific Council of ISC/UFBA. He was the collegiate coordinator of the Forum of Postgraduate Coordinators in Public Health (FCPGSC/ABRASCO), from 2021 to 2024. He is one of the editors-in-chief of the Journal Saúde e Sociedade (USP). In 2025, he took over the board of Dipex Brasil, which is part of an international network of qualitative research in health. He is also a member of A WHEN (Wellbeing in Higher Education Network), an international network focused on curricular innovation to promote a culture of well-being in education and training of agents of social change. He is the leader of "CONTEMPLEDUCA - Research group on contemplative practices for well-being, care and sustainability in higher education", a research group registered with CNPq: https://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/791270.
