Joaquim Murray Bustorff-Silva has a degree in Medicine from STATE UNIVERSITY OF CAMPINAS MEDICAL SCHOOL (FCM-UNICAMP) in 1981 and completed his PhD in 1992 from the same university. Held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA Department of Pediatric Surgery from 1997 to 1998. He is currently Full Professor of the Department of Surgery FCM-UNICAMP having been approved in a public tender on 18 May 2007. He has published over 80 articles in medical journals and about 95 in papers in conference proceedings. It has written 9 chapters of published books. He guided 5 Master and 5 PhD Thesis and several funded scientific initiations. He is coordinator of the division of Pediatric Surgery at FCM-UNICAMP and has been the Head of the Department of Surgery daFCM-UNICAMP from March 2010 to April 2014. He is an ad-hoc advisor to several funding agencies (FAPESP, CNPq and FAEP) and reviewer of several speciality journals ( J. Pediatrics, J. Pediatric Surgery and J. Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition) His research areas of interest are #8203;#8203;Digestive Physiology with emphasis on Intestinal Motility, Congenital Megacolon, Gastro-oesophageal Reflux and effects of neurological diseases on intestinal motility. More recently he has been working with regenerative medicine investigating the role of stem cells in the recovery of intestinal motility. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
