Graduate in Biological Sciences from the State University of Maringá (1994), Master and PhD in Biological Sciences (Botany) from the University of São Paulo (1998 and 2004). He developed his postgraduate studies in the Mycology and Lichenology Section of the Botany Institute of São Paulo (IBt). He joined the academic career as a visiting professor (1999) and is currently a full professor at the Feira de Santana State University (UEFS). Has experience in the field of Mycology, with emphasis on the taxonomy of asexual Asexectes. He works as a guiding professor (M / D) of the permanent nucleus of the Postgraduate Program in Botany (Capes 5) of the UEFS and of the Graduate Program in Biology of Fungi (Capes 4) of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Coordinator of the Semi-Arid Biodiversity Research Network (PPBio-Semi-Arid 2009 - 2017). Awarded in 2012 by the International Mycological Association (IMA) with the Carlos Spegazzini Medal, in recognition of the work developed in Latin America. Member of the International Commission on the Taxonomy of Fungi (ICTF 2014-2018) and representative in Brazil of the "Group for the conservation of fungi in Latin America and the Caribbean (2017-2019), with about 170 articles published.
