Biologist with a PhD in Natural Sciences (Plant Genetics) from the University of Vienna, Austria. She completed her postdoctoral studies in Plant Evolution at the University of São Paulo and in Plant Molecular Biology at Goethe Universität, Frankfurt, Germany. In 1994, she joined the Genetics Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco, where she has been a Full Professor since 2010. She heads the Laboratory of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology (http://www.lgbv-ufpe.net/). She holds a 1A productivity scholarship from CNPq. She has experience in Genetics, with an emphasis on Bioinformatics applied to Omics, Molecular Systematics and Molecular Cytogenetics. She was twice coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Genetics (UFPE), Head of the Genetics Department (UFPE) and President of the Brazilian Society of Genetics (2020-2022). She has worked on organizing over 40 events, 14 of which she was president. She was a member of the Advisory Committee for Genetics at CNPq (2017-2020), Biological Sciences at FACEPE (2012-2016) and CAPES (Biological Sciences I). She coordinates the omics networks InterSys Network, NordEST, Cowpea Genomics Consortium and Vitis Omics Network. She has been a member of the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences since 2021. She is currently vice-coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Genetics at UFPE. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
