Anna C S Chaves have a PhD degree (2016) and completed her postdoctoral internship (2023) in Criminal Law, Forensic Medicine and Criminology from the Largo de São Francisco Law School of the University of São Paulo. She was a FAPESP Direct Doctorate scholarship holder (2012-2016). She has a degree in Law from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) (2007) and a Specialization in Criminal Sciences from Cândido Mendes University (2009). She is a Professor in the Postgraduate Courses "Lato Sensu" in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP/Brasília) (2021-present) and at the Paulista School of Law (EDP/São Paulo) (2019-present). She is also a Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Medical Expertise at the Medical Education Center (CETRUS/São Paulo) (2021-present). She is a reviewer for the Revista Opinião Jurídica (B1 stratum, in the CAPES Qualis ranking), and for the Revista Brasileira de Direito (A1 stratum, in the CAPES Qualis ranking). She was Extension Coordinator and Adjunct Professor I at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. She was also a Professor at important Higher Education Institutions located in São Paulo/SP, in addition to being a collaborator and guest professor in advanced courses at the Center for Studies and Research in Forensic Psychiatry and Legal Psychology (NUFOR) of the Institute of Psychiatry of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP. She teaches and conducts research in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Criminology, Forensic Medicine, Criminal Enforcement and Public Security. She is the author of several legal works and scientific articles, among which her studies on the following topics stand out: Violent crimes and personality disorders, the Brazilian prison system, mass murders in Brazil, genocide, Brazilian serial killers and corruption.
