EDUARDO WHITAKER BERGAMINI is a senior researcher with Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais INPE, of MCTI, since Jan. 1968 where he is professionally active, after his statutary retirement, in May 2014. Since 1991, he is responsible for INPE Activity which is dedicated to the development, maintenance, and operation of Information Networks in Space Missions (RME), under the Coord. of Technology Management (TEC), relying in the area of Information and Communication Tech. (ICT). His professional activities are associated to the topics: Comp. Nets. In Distr. Systs., including the Control, Monitoring and Operation of Info. Nets. in Real time, with eventual resources of Parallel and High Perform. Processing; Develop. and Applic. of Standards in Space Data Systs. Received his degree in EE - Mod. Electronics in EPUSP (BR), in 1967. Obtained a MSc in Electronics and Telecommunications in INPE, in 1969. For pos-graduation, received combined financial support f from different sources, between 1969 and 1973, namely, fellowships from: NASA Intl. Fellowship (EUA), CNPq (BR), CAPES (BR) e FAPESP (BR), also including, respectively: Teaching Ass., Res. Assistantship e Res. Associateship from Dep. of EE of Stanford Univ., CA, USA. Received his 2nd. MSc in 1971, followed, both in 1973, by his PhD and Pos-Doctoral appointment from EE Dept. of Stanford Univ., CA, USA, when he was associated to Stanford Center for Radar Astronomy (SCRA), in sequence, holding the positions of: 1) Instructor of Lab. Course; 2) Research Assistant; 3) Associate Researcher, and to SRI International-HQ (Menlo Park-Silicon Vallley,CA,USA: http://www.sri.com/). Held many pos-grad. activities in INPE, as: Coordinator, Professor and Adviser. Also acted as advisor in an extensive variety of topics which resulted in: Graduation level monographs; Many Pos-Grad. level thesis and dissertations in the area of ICT. Was responsible by the creation and coordination of a MSc level Pos-Grad course in Digital and Analog Systs., in INPE/MCTI, from 1977 to 1988. Participation in many examination boards of MSc, PhD and Teaching Staff position exams, in INPE and in many universities of Brazil. He has been acting as INPE Representative to CCSDS (www.ccsds.org) Committee and as its Head of Delegation to its CMC Council., since its creation in 1982. Participation in many technical Working Groups (WGs) of CCSDS, developing recommendations for standards. He has been representing ABNT (Brazil), since 1991 in ISO TC20/SC13 Subcommittee (http://www.iso.org/iso/standards_development/technical_committees/other_bodies/iso_technical_committee.htm?commid=46612), where he is also its Chairman. He coordinates the ISO TC20/SC13 correspondent Commission of Study CE: 08.001.70 of ABNT, Brazil, since 1988. Founder Member of Interplanetary Internet Group (IPNSIG) of Internet Society. Represents INPE in the Executive Committee of SpaceOps (www.spaceops.org) where: 1) He has been participating in the TPC of its bi-annual symposia; 2) He was responsible for SpaceOps publications Subcommittee from 2005 to 2011; 3) He is currently active member of the SPPG Group of SpaceOps Comm. Member, since 2004, of the Directorship Council (CD) and, since 2005, member of the Scientific Tech. Committee (CTC), both, of BRISA (www.brisa.org.br). Since 1992, he is Associate Member of (IGS) International GNSS Service (http://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/). Observer Member of the CEOS Committee IDN working group, where he was an active participant between 1994 and 2001. Represents INPE in the Agreement NASA- AEB on Space Geodetic Research With Emphasis in GPS. Represents INPE in LARC (Nat. Lab. For Comp. Nets).
