He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1996), a master's degree in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia (1998) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of São Paulo (2005). He served as executive coordinator of the Associação Floresta Protegida (AFP) between 2007 and 2021, an indigenous organization that currently represents around 40 communities of the Mebengôkre (Kayapó) ethnic group located in the Kayapó, Las Casas and Menkragnoti Indigenous Lands.For the past six years, he has worked on the development and management of projects aimed at strengthening the autonomy of Kayapó communities in the protection and sustainable management of their territories and natural resources, including sustainable income-generating initiatives, such as the Amazon nut, cumaru, handicrafts and community-based tourism chains.In recent years, he has taken on the role of director of the Kayapó Project in Brazil at the International Conservation Fund of Canada (ICFC), advising, in addition to the AFP, the Raoni and Kabu Institutes, seeking to support more coordinated and integrated actions in order to consider the set of contiguous territories under the control of the Mebengokre-Kayapó people, located in the states of Pará and Mato Grosso, as a unit.
