Cleyton de Carvalho Carneiro

Professor at the Escola Politécnica of the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) since 2013, with a background in Geomatics and Geosciences, including a degree in Geology from the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA, 2003), a Masters (2005) and Ph.D. (2010) in Geology and Natural Resources from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), and a research period at the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization (CSIRO). He completed his postdoctoral research at the Institute of Geosciences at USP (2014), with experience as a Visiting Scientist at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 2013. He earned an MBA in Data Science from ICMC-USP São Carlos in 2022. In 2023 and 2024, he developed courses at Harvard Business School (HBS), that focused on active learning and aligned with enhancing teaching methodologies. An Associate Professor in Mining and Petroleum Engineering, specializing in Petroleum Exploration, his research encompasses Geotechnologies and Self-Organizing Systems applied to Geo-resources and Mining and Petroleum Engineering. He is affiliated with the Graduate Program in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering (PPGEMP) and has been one of the leaders of the Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) group for Integrated Technology for Rock and Fluid Analysis (InTRA) since 2017. Since 2022, he has also served as Vice President of the Inclusion and Belonging Committee (CIP) of the Polytechnic School at USP, promoting equity and inclusion initiatives within the institution. He is an active member of several professional associations, including the Brazilian Geological Society (SBG), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA Brazil). His research focuses on multivariate data analysis, visualization, and modeling, digital transformation of Geo-resources, and the integrated characterization of rocks and fluids in sedimentary basins and reservoirs.
