Anderson Macedo de Jesus

Currently serves as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at UNICEF Brazil, based in the Amazon region since 2019, where he leads the monitoring of the situation of children and adolescents across more than 800 municipalities. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam, with distinction (2024). In addition, he was granted a full PhD scholarship from CAPES (PROGRAMA DE DOUTORADO PLENO NO EXTERIOR). He also holds an MSc in International Public Management and Policy from the same university, a postgraduate diploma in Public Management from the Brazilian National School of Public Administration (ENAP, 2005), and a BA in Public Administration from São Paulo State University (UNESP, 2002).He has over 15 years of experience in public policy evaluation, applied research, and social policy analysis in both national and international contexts. His career includes assignments with UNDP, UNESCO, Johns Hopkins University, University of Melbourne, and the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM). He has led rigorous impact evaluations (including randomized controlled trials) in education programmes, community health initiatives, and social policies in Brazil.He was a Research Collaborator at Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (RJ), focusing on social policy evaluation. At UNDP, he contributed to the design of MDG-related indicators, including the creation of a pioneering indicator on youth violence for the state of Minas Gerais, later approved by UNDP Headquarters in New York.He has coordinated postgraduate courses in Public Management at ENAP and is highly skilled in quantitative methods (STATA, Python, Power BI, Tableau), with expertise in equity-focused evaluation, results-based management, and the integration of evidence into public policy.
