CNPq Productivity Researcher 1C. Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from UNESP/Rio Claro (1994); Master's degree in Biological Sciences (concentration area in Molecular Biology) from UNIFESP (1997): Construction of vectors applied to Gene Therapy; PhD in Biological Sciences (concentration area in Molecular Biology) from UNIFESP (2000): Diagnosis for Fragile X Syndrome; Post-Doctorate from Instituto Butantan (FAPESP Scholarship - 2002-2004): Development of vaccine strategies applied to human and bovine papillomavirus.Approved for the Genetics Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in 2004. He is currently Associate Professor IV of the Genetics Department and is responsible for the Laboratory of Molecular Studies and Experimental Therapy (LEMTE). Collaborating Researcher at the Microbiology Laboratory-FIOCRUZ-Aggeu Magalhães and LAVITE-FIOCRUZ-Aggeu Magalhães. Leader of the Molecular Studies and Experimental Therapy Group (GEMTE) at CNPq. He advises students in the following Postgraduate Programs at UFPE: Genetics (PPGG), Therapeutic Innovation (PPGIT), Industrial Biotechnology (PPGBi), and Biological Sciences (PPGCB) at the master's and doctoral levels. He served as Vice Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Genetics at UFPE from 2007 to 2009 and as Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Genetics from 2009 to 2011. Reviewer for several scientific journals. Ad hoc advisor for FAPESB; FAPESP; FACEPE and CNPq. He was a guest researcher at INCT-if (2012-2016) and an evaluator of SINAES (National System for the Assessment of Higher Education - Circular Letter MEC/INEP/DEAES/number 003454/2006). Currently a member of the steering committee of INCT for Gene Therapy, INTERGEN (2023-2028).Has experience in the area of Biochemistry, with emphasis on Molecular Biology, working mainly on the following topics: i) Biology of papillomavirus infection; ii) Development of Vaccination and Diagnostic Strategies; Protein Expression in Heterologous Systems; Differential Gene Expression in Cancer; Functional Gene Assessment. In 2016, due to the emergency created by the Zika virus infection, he initiated studies on the use of heterologous protein production platforms established at LEMTE for the production of immunobiologicals for diagnosis, prophylaxis, and therapy of the Zika virus. Recently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, studies on the biology of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the development of vaccine strategies against COVID-19 have begun. Currently, research is being carried out on a therapeutic vaccine against HPV-related cancers and a prophylactic vaccine against the Zika virus, as well as research on the relationship between HPV and breast and lung cancer.
