Dentist graduated from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), Araraquara campus, in 2002, with a Masters degree (2005) and a Ph.D. (2009) in Pharmacology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). During her doctoral studies, she completed a research internship at the University of Virginia (2007) and, more recently, a sabbatical at the Seattle Childrens Research Institute (2024). She is currently an Associate Professor (level 3) at the Department of Pharmacology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo (USP).In the field of academic administration, she serves as Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at ICB-USP, and has previously held positions as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Faculty Committee (20212023) and as Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmacology (20172023). She has also held roles in scientific societies, having served as Treasurer of the Brazilian Society of Physiology (20152016), Treasurer (20172021), and First Secretary (20212023) of the Federation of Experimental Biology Societies (FeSBE).Her research focuses on the regulation of breathing by the mammalian central nervous system, with an emphasis on identifying neuronal networks in rodents using electrophysiological and neuroanatomical approaches. She also investigates how these networks are altered in experimental models of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinsons disease, exploring mechanisms related to neuroinflammation, sexual dimorphism, and sleep disturbances. Beyond her academic career, she is the mother of Luísa (17 years old) and Laura (13 years old). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
