Birthplace: Brazil

Degree in Biological Sciences (1984), Master´s degree in Entomology (1988) and PhD in Genetics (1992) from the University of São Paulo. In 1996 she joined the Institute of Biological Sciences at the University of Brasília, where she is currently a full Professor and Coordinator of the Evolutionary Biology Laboratory. She has served as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University, United States (2003) and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Göttingen, Germany (2019). In 2021 she became a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society, and in 2022 she was appointed by Brazil as a specialist to develop diagnostic protocols for agricultural pests with the International Plant Protection Convention (FAO / UN). At the University of Brasília, she develops teaching, research, and extension in the areas of Evolutionary Ecology focusing drosophilids, Biological Invasions and Evolutionary Biology Teaching.
