Main steps of academic career: BSc in Physics (Vordiplom) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1970), MSc in Physics (Diplom) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1974), PhD in Physics (Doktor) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1980), research fellow at CERN's Theory Division (1984-1986) and "Habilitation" in Physics from "Universität Freiburg" (1986). Since 1992, holds a position as full professor at the Applied Mathematics Department of the Institute for Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo. Research activities predominantly in the areas of Mathematical Physics, Biomathematics and Financial Mathematics, more specifically in subjects such as: classical and quantum field theory, differential geometry, functional analysis, hyperbolic partial differential equations, representation theory of groups and algebras, mathematical models for genetic code evolution and for gene expression, mathematical modelling of debt amortization systems at compound and simple interest. This project aims to develop mathematical models for the evolution of genetic code. The labeling of codons to irreducible representations of the simpletic group, the concrete construction of these same representations, a revision of the search for symmetries, the study of non-universal codes and the development of a dynamic model are the central axes of the investigation. Spacetime quantization theories will be studied from a operator algebraic point of view.
The aim of this project is to continue the development of the mathematical tools for the construction of quantum space-times, initiated during the students master program, which has recently been converted to a PhD program. (AU)
