Main steps of academic career: BSc in Physics (Vordiplom) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1970), MSc in Physics (Diplom) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1974), PhD in Physics (Doktor) from "Freie Universität Berlin" (1980), research fellow at CERN's Theory Division (1984-1986) and "Habilitation" in Physics from "Universität Freiburg" (1986). Since 1992, holds a position as full professor at the Applied Mathematics Department of the Institute for Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo. Research activities predominantly in the areas of Mathematical Physics, Biomathematics and Financial Mathematics, more specifically in subjects such as: classical and quantum field theory, differential geometry, functional analysis, hyperbolic partial differential equations, representation theory of groups and algebras, mathematical models for genetic code evolution and for gene expression, mathematical modelling of debt amortization systems at compound and simple interest.
