Carolina de Medeiros Rimkus

Medical doctor graduated in the State University of Campinas in 2003, with residency in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (UNICAMP 2004-2007) and title of radiologist from the Brazilian College of Radiology (2007).Master's degree at the State University of Campinas (2008), when she gained experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries, recognizing signs, and techniques of peripheral neuromuscular electrical stimulation. In 2013, had a PhD in neuroradiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP), publishing a study of microstructural damage to brain tissue and cortical atrophy in individuals with multiple sclerosis.During the doctoral program, she had a internship at the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences (Grenoble, France). In 2015, she received a research internship abroad (BEPE) from FAPESP for post-doctoral research at the Vrije Universiteit Medical Center (VUMC) in Amsterdam, under the supervision of Prof. Frederik Barkhof.She is a collaborating professor and medical assistant in the Department of Radiology and Oncology at FMUSP. She serves as a supervisor for the resident physicians at the Institute of Radiology (Inrad-FMUSP) in educational and clinical activities and teaches classes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at FMUSP. She has an influential and dynamic participation in the scientific community nationally and internationally. Currently works as a visiting researcher at the Amsterdam University Medical Center (AUMC), Netherlands, collaborating on research between FMUSP-AUMC in the field of brain connectivity and cognitive and psychological disorders in multiple sclerosis.
