Marco Giannotti painter, Born in São Paulo in 1966. Associate Professor III at the School of Communication and Arts at the University of São Paulo (USP); Studied in Brazil and abroad (United Nations International School in New York City); has an MA in Philosophy (translation and critical introduction of the Doctrine of Colors, Goethe / 1749-1832; has taken part in prestigious Biennial art fairs; has work in major museums and art galleries in Brazil; has written extensively on art, with a book published on Contemporary Painting. In the late eighties, he won the acquisition prize of the National Salon of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro and the Bolsa Ivan Serpa, the National Art Foundation - Funarte, in Rio de Janeiro. He graduated in Social Sciences at USP, and made his first solo exhibitions in major galleries and museums in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Participated in two versions of the Mercosul Biennial and international group exhibitions. Twice received the award of best show of the year by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics - APCA. Is the author of a book edited by Cosacnaify gathering the last 20 years of pictorial activity, brief history of contemporary painting released by publisher Claridade and a book by Spanish publisher Dardo on his paintings and latest photos. Invited in 2011 to be a visiting professor during the school year at the University of Foreign Studies Kyoto, publishes a book - Diary of Kyoto - by Martins Fontes with support from the Embassy of Brazil in Tokyo. During this time, he made collages with Washi, a colored paper made from mulberry leaves intended primarily to gift wrapping in Japan Recently created an exhibition at Tomie Ohtake Institute and Gallery Raquel Arnaud in São Paulo. He currently is responsible for a research group on color at the School of Visual Arts, University of São Paulo. In 2021 Reflexions on color was published by Martins Fontes a book containing an extensive research on color in Modern and Contemporary art.. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
