Employee of the Virus Laboratory at UFMG from 1982 to 1998, with experience in the production, purification, and titration of human viruses and interferons. Holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1990). Completed a Master's degree in 1993 and a Ph.D. in 1998, both in Biological Sciences with a focus on Virology, conducted at the Virus Laboratory of the ICB/UFMG. Possesses expertise in Virology studies, particularly in the production of interferons using human amniotic membrane, as well as in sequencing and structural and functional studies of interferons.Undertook postdoctoral research at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research from 1999 to 2000, where he developed and implemented a DNA Microarray system for the detection of differentially expressed genes in cancer as part of the Fapesp Human Cancer Genome Project.From 2001 to 2012, worked as a Researcher at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and at the International Research Center (CIPE) of the A.C. Camargo Cancer Center, focusing on gene expression studies and the detection of differentially expressed genes in cancers, with an emphasis on gastric, thyroid, head and neck, breast, and colorectal cancers.Served as a researcher and technical manager for the Aquatic Animal Diseases Laboratory of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (AQUACEN) from 2012 to 2018.Currently, since 2018, he has been a scientific researcher at the CTVacinas Laboratory at UFMG, specializing in the development of diagnostic tests and leading the molecular biology platform.
