Verónica Andrea González-López

Prof. Verónica earned her Bachelors degree in Mathematics from FAMAF, National University of Córdoba, Argentina (1995). She completed her PhD in Statistics at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, with a CAPES scholarship (1999). In 2000, she was a Visiting Professor at the University of San Andrés, Argentina. She subsequently completed two postdoctoral research projects: the first in 2000 at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (UBATEC scholarship), and the second in 2002 at the University of São Paulo, Brazil (FAPESP scholarship). Since 2022, she has been an Associate Professor at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, following her habilitation at the University of São Paulo in 2018. Prof. Verónica served as Chairperson of the IASC-LARS (International Association for Statistical Computing - Latin American Regional Section) from 2021 to 2022. She was elected as a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) in 2021 and served as Treasurer of ISBra (Brazilian Bayesian Statistical Association) during 2021-2022. She wad elected as ISI advisory member (2025-2029). She has held various leadership roles at Unicamp: From 2005 to 2010, she coordinated and co-coordinated the Bachelors Degree in Statistics program. From 2008 to 2010, she served as Vice-President of Unicamps Central Undergraduate Committee. Between 2010 and 2014, she was the Associate Director of the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing. Since 2021, she has been an elected member of the University Board at Unicamp. Prof. Verónicas research focuses on three key areas: Development of copula theory, Bayesian inference techniques and concepts, Markovian models and their estimation.
