Anja Pratschke, a German architect and researcher, has been living in Brazil since 1990. She is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, University of São Paulo. She has been a Level 2 Research Productivity Scholar of CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) since 2014. Since August 2001, she has been a full-time professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism in São Carlos (formerly the Department of Architecture and Urbanism - EESC) at the University of São Paulo, where she teaches Digital Media in Architecture (undergraduate) and Architectural Design and Digital Culture (postgraduate). Since 2001, she has been the co-coordinator of the research group Nomads.usp. [www.nomads.usp.br], Center for Studies on Interactive Habitats, where her research projects are concentrated in the areas of Design Processes and Communication in Architecture: Cybernetics, Ecology, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Architecture, and Computational Design Process. She graduated from the Ecole d'Architecture de Grenoble, France [DPLG Architect, 1991]; earned a Master's degree in the History of Architecture on the configuration of voids from the School of Engineering, USP [1996]; conducted research on contemporary architecture in Japan, Osaka [1994]; completed her Ph.D. in Computational Sciences on the use of mnemonic structures as a method for constructing virtual spaces at the Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, USP [1998-2002]. She also pursued a Sandwich Ph.D./Specialization in Hypermedia at the Université de Paris 8 (2001) and completed her Postdoctoral research at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, focusing on Second-Order Cybernetics and Architecture [2009]. Senior researcher at Leuphana Universitaet,Alemanha, focusing on Ecological Communication and Architecture .(2023-2024, 6 months, CAPES PRINT) She became an Associate Professor MS-5 at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism at USP, Brazil, in September 2018, following the defense of her systematized text: "The Boat, the Sea, and the Helmsman: Design Processes and Cybernetics in Digital Culture," IAU-USP.
