Associate Professor Carlos Alberto Fortulan is part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at EESC-USP, where he teaches courses on mechanical design and materials. He earned a degree in Materials Engineering from UFSCar, a Master's, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from EESC-USP. He has also completed a Post-doctoral degree in engineering and materials science from UFSCar and a senior Post-doctoral degree in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Virginia Tech. Since 2009, he has served as the Coordinator of the Laboratory of Tribology and Composites. His work spans several areas, including machine design, mold design, and the design and manufacturing of structural ceramic products and implants. He has seven years of experience (1986-1993) in the creation and development of ceramics, including electronic ceramics, sensors, and structural ceramics, gained through his roles at ENGECER and CERAUTO. Additionally, he has four years of experience in establishing and developing Precision Metrology Laboratories and Working Groups (such as Ultra Precision Metrology at EESC-USP and the Ceramic Center at the ParqTec Foundation). He has been a member of the Board of the São Carlos High Technology Park Foundation (ParqTec) since 2001 and has served on the certification board of the Brazilian Ceramic Center (CCB) since 2009. He is also a researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology for Biofabrication (INCT-BIOFABRIS). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
