Hilton Kenji Takahashi

Pharmacist-Biochemist graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP, 2005), with a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at USP, including a doctoral internship at the School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science, University College Dublin (Ireland). Completed postdoctoral training at the Institut de Recherche Expérimentale et Clinique, Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium, 20112014), at the Institute of Basic Health Sciences, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (20142015), and at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, USP (20162018). Works in the fields of Physiology and Molecular Biology, with a focus on cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in insulin secretion, metabolism, and cell signaling in the context of diabetes, obesity, and inflammation. Research interests include the role of mitochondria, reactive oxygen species, lipids, and pancreatic islets in energy homeostasis and metabolic dysfunction. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
