He has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1990), a master's degree in Ecology Conservation and Wildlife Management, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1995) and a PhD in Plant Biology from the State University of Campinas ( 2002). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha and Mucuri and permanent advisor of the Postgraduate course in Ecology of Tropical Biomes (UFOP) and collaborator of the Postgraduate course in Animal Biology (UFVJM). He has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Botany, with an emphasis on Phanerogamous Taxonomy, Phenology and Phytosociology of tropical ecosystems. Currently coordinates studies on Biodiversity in peatlands areas of Serra do Espinhaço, within the PELD/CNPq program. Participates in the technical support group of the Espinhaço Mineiro Territorial Action Plan (PAT), coordinating projects in the areas of environmental education, sustainable tourism and ecology of peatland ecosystems.
