He obtained bachelor and master's degree in Food Engineering (FURG, 2000 and UFSC, 2003, respectively) and PhD degree in Biotechnology (USP, 2007). He carried out doctoral internship and post-doctorate at the University of Saarland (Germany) where he worked with Metabolic Fluxes Analysis in yeast with Prof. Christoph Wittmann and Prof. Elmar Heinzle. Between 2013 e 2014 performed post-doctorate at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (Switzerland) with Prof. Uwe Sauer. He is professor in the UFGD, working mainly in the following areas: biochemical engineering, metabolic engineering, bioprocess engineering and biotechnology, with the following themes: microbial physiology, metabolic fluxes analysis with labeled carbon, biomass, bioethanol, biodiesel, biopolymers, microalgae, fish and wastes. He supervises in the Master and PhD Program in Environmental Science and Technology and Master Program in Food Science and Technology of UFGD and Mater and PhD Program in Natural Resources of University of Akureyri.
