Bachelor of Geography from UNESP (1987); Master in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research - INPE (1991); PhD in Physical Geography from the University of São Paulo - USP (1995) and Associate Professor at the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP (2004). He began his academic career at UNESP's Institute of Geosciences and Exact Sciences, where he taught at the Department of Cartography and Geographic Information Analysis from 1990 to 2001, and coordinated the postgraduate program in Geography. From 2001, he joined the teaching staff of the Institute of Geosciences of UNICAMP, where he works with Associate Professor MS-5.3 in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Geography. He coordinated the postgraduate program in Geography at IG-UNICAMP between 2002 and 2004. He supervised 12 doctoral theses, 20 master's dissertations and 11 scientific initiation / course conclusion monographies. He has been a member of several judging boards, including doctorates, masters, monographs and public competitions for the selection of higher education teachers. For over 20 years, he has been teaching, researching and training new researchers in the areas of geographical information systems - GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, thematic cartography and digital processing of orbital images. He is leader of the CNPq-certified Geospatial Analysis Methods research group. He is the author of the book "Initiation to Spatial Analysis" (2014), published by Editora Unesp, and ranked among the finalists of the 2015 Jabuti Prize. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
