Armando Mateus Pomini

Graduated with Laurea in Chemistry, Bachelor's and Technological from Universidade Estadual de Londrina (2004), master's degree (2006) and doctorate from UNICAMP (2009). He was a Petrobras employee as a Petroleum Chemist (2008-2010) in the area of #8203;#8203;non-metallic materials and flow assurance. Participated in the project team of the first pre-salt well in the Campos Basin (Barracuda-Caratinga field). He is the author of the book A Química na Produção de Petróleo, published by Editora Interciência. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the State University of Maringá, Paraná. He has experience in the areas of natural product chemistry, petroleum chemistry, chemical ecology and organic chemistry. Develops projects and advises undergraduate, master and doctoral students in the area of chemistry of natural products and chemical ecology of Orchidaceae and Arecaceae bioactive against cancer, Chagas disease, leishmaniasis and herpes virus, as well as in the application of chemotaxonomic concepts to understand the distribution of secondary metabolites among the different species of these plant families. In the field of microorganism chemistry, he has worked on studies of intercellular chemical signaling mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria mediated by acyl homoserine lactones ("quorum-sensing") and their effects on the development of plants such as tomato and sugarcane. , as well as the effects of signaling molecules in filamentous fungi. He published 50 scientific articles and supervised 8 master's and 4 doctoral students. He carried out technical visits to the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece), the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).
