Rimenys Júnior Carvalho

I am bachelor at biochemical engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (2006) and master at biotechnology and bioprocess from same university along Butantan Institute by Programa Interunidades em Biotecnologia (2009). I have experience in bioproduction of alcohol using hydrolysate from hemicellulosic materials as carbon source and also in high density production of bacteria and purification of recombinant protein by several process including liquid chromatography. I had also some experience in methods development in two chemical industries, first in textile industry where I was responsible for developing enzymatic and dye methods of analysis and process; second in organic chemistry where I used to developed analytic methods of compounds for pesticides production. I am also PhD in bioengineering systems from MIT/Portugal program. My thesis was related to fundamental studies of phenylboronate chromatography using a protein library based on their pI and presence of glycosylation in order to understand the possible interactions of this multimodal ligand for protein purification. This project has been developed at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon/Portugal with collaboration with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY/USA. I was a pos-doctoral at Laboratório de Engenharia de Cultivos Celulares at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro where I worked on developing purification processes of therapeutic proteins and coordanate the researches related to this area.
