Fred Carrilho was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in April, 1971. He started studying guitar and musical theory on his childhood. His ancestors are from Spain and Portugal with many musicians around his family, specially winds and keyboard players. Master in Music at UNICAMP (Campinas State University). Thesis: Stochastic Process with Generalized Distribution for Music Composition. Undergraduate in Music Composition at UNICAMP [2008] and Bachelor in Classical Guitar at FAAM / Uni-FMU [1997].The piece BRASILESSÊNCIA was awarded in the contest promoted by Nieuw Ensemble (a project BAMDialogue: Brazil-Amsterdam Musical Dialogue) and premiered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, during the GAUDEAMUS MUSIK WEEK Festival at Muziekgebouw Hall. Mr Carrilho was awarded during XIV Biennial of Contemporary Brazilian Music sponsored by FUNARTE - National Foundation for Art, Culture Ministry, with the piece "O Despertar do Anjo."He was a writer, arranger and transcriber Cover Guitarra and ViolãoPró magazines, distributed throughout the country and abroad in countries like Japan, USA and Portugal. During this time he also published the column "The History of Guitar and Its Evolution."As researcher Mr. Carrilho presented the article "Interactive Musical Composition to Generalized Distribution based on Stochastic Process" at International Symposium Iannis Xenakis organized by the University of Athens, Greece in association with the University of Montpellier 3 (University Institute of France).In 2005 Mr. Carrilho was the only latin american artist participating in the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium at United States of America, where he presented the piece "Journey to Eternity" for steel string guitar and live electronics.In the same year the work EVENTVM III, for clarinet, trombone, percussion (2), guitar and violin, was premiered during XVI Biennial Festival of Contemporary Brazilian Music (FUNARTE), Cecilia Meireles Hall, Rio de Janeiro.PROFUSÃO5 (Toccata) for Percussion Quartet was premiered during XVII Biennial of Contemporary Brazilian Music by DÍNAMO Percussion Quartet. The work had great success on the public and international critics:"PROFUSÃO5 [Toccata] by Frederick Carrilho (2007) closed the evening with a bang, skillfully Integrating percussion elements from popular music into the Clearly-structured large-scale work. Virtuoso, and extremely enjoyable. Bravo !...." [Tom Moore, Opera Today]During this Tour, besides the recording made in Sweden, Mr. Carrilho participated in the Jazzfest Brandenburg [Brandenburg, Germany] and recordings at the University Frèdèric Chopin at Warsaw, where he also realized performances of his compositions and Brazilian Music - a project with support from European Union Culture Department.The Piece AQUARELLE SUITE was comissioned by Henneberger-Amrein Duo. The first moviment was premiered at Internationale Gesellschaft für Neue Musik" #8203;#8203;(IGNM) at Basel, Switzerland and the 2nd Moviment premiered at USP (State University of Sao Paulo). Recently Fred Carrilho recorded The DVD "Hymn of the Corinthians". One of the most important and famous soccer teams around the world, the Corinthians Paulista Sport Club had in 2010/2011 100th Foundation Anniversary. The arrangement, specially made for the centennial celebrations, was recorded at the Memorial Club Museum Hall at Parque São Jorge, Sao Paulo City in December 2012, for TV-GAZETA, the arrangement of the Hymn was worldly broadcastedafter the FIFA World Club Championship, in December 2012.
