Bachelor in physics from University of São Paulo (1997), Ms.C in condensed matter physics from University of São Paulo (2000) and Ph.D. in materials science engineering from Federal University of São Carlos (2004), all in Brazil, with a sandwich research at Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin/Germany. Between 2004 and 2008 did post-doc researches at Federal University of São Carlos / Brazil and Clausthal University of Technology / Germany. Published more than 125 scientifc papers and more than hundred presentations in congresses, symposia and meetings. He has more than 1600 citations at ISI/Scopus. Now is full professor at the Polytechique School, Department of Chemical Engineering and at the Humanities, Arts Sciences Institute at Federal University of Bahia. He is also permanent professor, and was coordinator at the Post-Graduation Program in Industrial Engineering and vice-coordinator of the Professional Masters both of the Polytechnique School. He is a CNPq researcher grant level 2, leader of the Vitreous Materials Lab: www.lamav.ufba.br. He was vice-head of Chemical Engineering Department (2012-2017), IHAC vice-director (2010-2013), vice-academic coordinator (2009) as well as Coordinator of the Professional Master in Industrial Engineering (2014 - 2018). Has experience in Solid State Physics e Materials Science and Engineering, focusing on Condensed Matter and Nanotechnologies, acting on the following subjects: glass, diffusion, viscosity, nucleation crystal growth and ionic conductivity, as well as specific topics in education, science and mathematics. He was visiting professor at Coe College, USA. Often writes science and mathematics dissemination texts in newspapers. He is member of Brazilian Materials Research Society (SBPMat) and Brazilian Physics Society (SBF). He was co-author, with Luiz Barco, of Brazilian TV Series "Art Mathematics" (2001), and author of the books "Mathematics - Contruction and Meaning (Moderna Press, 2006)", 'Et cetera: Engineering, Technology and Science' (EDUFBA, 2018) and "Ingenious Art Math" (EDUFBA, 2023).
