Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of São Carlos (1986), Master's Degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho Ecology and PhD on Natural Resources by the Federal University of São Carlos (1996). Since 1996 he has been a PhD Professor at the University of São Paulo. He has experience inf Ornithology, Ecology, Natural History, and Animal Behavior, having recently been active in the following topics: ecology of birds of prey (particularly owls), ecology and natural history of birds in the Cerrado Region.
