Guilherme Gomes

I hold a degree in Biological Sciences (Bachelors/Licensure) from UNESP (2003), a Masters degree (2006, FAPESP), and a Ph.D. (2012, CAPES) in Physiology and Entomology, investigating energy metabolism, thermoregulation, neuroscience, and forensic science. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship (2014-2017, FAPESP) in the Neurobiophysics group at IFSC-USP.During my Ph.D., I worked as a substitute professor at UNESP (2009-2012), teaching Human and Animal Physiology, passing eight public selection exams, and being honored by all the classes I taught.I have extensive experience in Physiology and Neurosciences (comparative physiology, neurophysiology, energy metabolism, thermoregulation, entomology), Biotechnology and Biomedical Analysis (molecular biology, biochemistry, forensic science), and Computational Modeling and Artificial Intelligence (mathematical modeling, programming languages).I have conducted extensive research using thermal imaging to analyze physiological processes in various animal groups, including vertebrates and invertebrates. Since 2003, I have collected and analyzed a large thermal data repository, enabling the investigation of thermoregulation patterns, energy metabolism, and neurophysiological responses in species of medical, agricultural, ecological, and behavioral significance. This infrared imaging database allows the application of machine learning and computer vision to advance the understanding of organisms' thermal mechanisms, as well as contribute to biomimetics, healthcare, and environmental monitoring.I have numerous publications, lectures, and participation in round tables. Currently, I collaborate with various institutions and research groups, investigating physiological and biomimetic processes in vertebrates and invertebrates of medical, agricultural, ecological, and behavioral relevance.I am co-founder and Scientific Director of Machine Learning at Predikta Soluções em Pesquisa LTDA (since March 2021), where I apply artificial intelligence, computer vision, and infrared imaging to advance research in health, physiology, and biomimetics.
