Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas (IAG)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Ricardo has a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), working in the area of research on biosphere-atmosphere interactions (carbon flux) and micrometeorology; Master's Degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), a Physics Degree (UFSM) and a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology (UFPEL). Ricardo has been acting on the terrestrial climate system, especially in understanding and modeling the processes at the biosphere-hydrosphere interfaces and the surrounding atmosphere. Ricardo has experience in big data analysis, especially acquired by high frequency observation systems (turbulent covariance system), for carbon and energy flux fluxes in several ecosystems, and also in the evaluation of climate system models (BESM-INPE , CESM-NCAR, InLand, SiB2, THMB), especially in processes at the surface-atmosphere interface (biogeochemical and hydrological). Ricardo participated in in situ campaigns to collect micrometeorological and meteo-oceanographic data in expeditions embarked in the Southern Ocean. He has been linked as a postdoctoral researcher to the Earth System Science Center (INPE/CCST) as a member of The Earth League, an international alliance of prominent scientists from world-class research institutions, who seek to work together to address some of the most pressing problems facing humanity, as a result of climate change, depletion of natural resources, land degradation and water scarcity.
