Undergraduated at Farmácia e Bioquímica from Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (1968) and a PhD from the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo in the area of Analytical Chemistry. (1976).The first post-doctorate was held at the University of California - San Diego, in Porphyrin Chemistry and Biomimetic Catalysis, with Prof. T. G. Traylor (1981). Currently is a Senior Collaborating Full Professor at the University of São Paulo. Works in the area of Chemistry, with emphasis on Bio-Inorganic Chemistry, working mainly on the following topics: porphyrins, metalloporphyrins (MeP), MeP immobilized in mesoporous silicas, biomimetic catalysis.
