Josiane de Campos Cruz

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo - Ribeirão Preto (2002). I hold a Master's in Sciences (2004) and a Ph.D. in Sciences (2008) from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto/Department of Physiology/University of São Paulo. I completed postdoctoral training (2009-2011) at the Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory of the Institute of Physiology and Biophysics, University of São Paulo (ICB/USP), at the Neuroendocrine Physiology Laboratory (2011-2012) of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto/University of São Paulo, and the Karolinska Institutet/Sweden (2017-2018). I have served as the Multicenter Program in Physiological Sciences coordinator for three terms, allowing me to demonstrate my leadership and organizational skills. I am an Associate Professor (Class D) at the Biotechnology Center/Department of Biotechnology at the Federal University of Paraíba and Deputy Local Coordinator of the Multicenter Program in Physiological Sciences. As an accredited advisor in the Multicenter Graduate Program in Physiological Sciences (permanent), my research is a deep dive into Cardiovascular and Neuroendocrine Physiology. I particularly focus on the intricate hypothalamic mechanisms of autonomic and neuroendocrine modulation, susceptibility to the development of cardiovascular diseases, and the effects of natural products such as Cannabis derivatives and organic and inorganic nitrates. In addition, I lead projects in physiology education, university outreach, and mentoring, with a unique emphasis on the interaction between Physiology and Art. As a member of the scientific communication committee of the SBFis, I am deeply involved in science dissemination through social media @fisio_arte.
