Birthplace: Brazil

Graduate in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Master in Genetics of Microrganisms and PhD in Plant Genetic Improvement by the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Developed part of her Ph.D. at the University of Florida, Gainesville, with construction of vectors for plant transformation and transgenic techniques in citrus. She also conducted biosensor training at the University of California, Berkeley. Received in 2008 the Post Graduation Award for best work in the area of Genetics of Microrganisms, and in 2015 the Young Geneticist Award, both granted by the Brazilian Society of Genetics. In 2016 received the Young Scientist Award, granted by the International Citrus Society. She was a finalist for the second edition of the FameLab Brasil competition, organized by the British Council. Is currently developing her post doc at Center of Citriculture Sylvio Moreira / IAC with citrus genetic transformation aiming resistance against Xylella fastidiosa and Xanthomonas citri. Has experience in the area of Molecular Genetics and Microorganisms, and Plant Transformation, working mainly on the following topics: plant-pathogen interaction, use of model plants for interaction studies, bacterial biofilms, quorum sensing and transgenics.
