Doctor of Medicine (2007), Medical Residency in Psychiatry (2012), and Ph.D. in Sciences (2017) from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), Brazil.Currently, Mauricio Serpa is a Collaborating Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at FMUSP, in which he is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.In addition, Mauricio is a researcher at the Laboratory of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry (LIM21, FMUSP), where he is developing his postdoctoral project. In this study, he employs advanced neuroimaging techniques and artificial intelligence for the automated classification of individuals at risk for severe mental disorders (i.e., ultra-high risk for psychosis, UHR).Furthermore, he is a collaborator in the Psychosis Outpatient Group at the Laboratory of Neurosciences (LIM27, FMUSP).Finally, Mauricio serves as a Research Affiliate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neurosciences, King's College London, United Kingdom, collaborating on international multicentric projects related to the early stages of psychotic disorders.His main research lines involve the use of magnetic resonance methods (especially diffusion MRI) for the investigation of severe mental disorders and disorders related to the use of psychoactive substances, examining the association of neuroimaging data with other biomarkers.
