Associate Professor in Linguistic Theories and the Teaching of Portuguese, based in the Department of Linguistics at the Institute of Language Studies, University of Campinas (Unicamp). He holds a PhD in Scienze del Linguaggio (Language Sciences) from Università Ca Foscari di Venezia, Italy, and a Masters degree in Linguistics from the Institute of Language Studies at Unicamp. He earned his undergraduate degree in Languages (Portuguese and Italian) from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), São José do Rio Preto.He is the author of "Sintaxe Gerativa: uma introdução à Cartografia Sintática" ('Generative Syntax: An Introduction to Syntactic Cartography') (2021) and "Gramática e formação de professores de língua portuguesa" ('Grammar and the Training of Portuguese Language Teachers') (2025), both published by Editora da Unicamp, and co-author, with Mariana Perigrino, of "Gramática na ponta do lápis" ('Grammar at Your Fingertips') (Editora Lexikon, 2024).He serves as editor of the journal Cadernos de Estudos Linguísticos (ISSN 2447-0686), and is a member of ABRALIN and the International Association of Syntactic Cartographic Studies, Macao, where he is also Vice Chairperson of the board. Additionally, he is a member of the Working Group on Grammar Theory at ANPOLL.He was one of the coordinators of the PIBID Portuguese Language programme at Unicamp (20202021) and served as course coordinator for the Letras ("Languages") degree at Unicamp from 2019 to 2023. In the area of outreach, he offers courses through Extecamp, Unicamps School of Extension.His research interests include Syntactic Cartography, Comparative Syntax (especially of Portuguese varieties), Generative Grammar, grammar teaching, linguistic norms, and the epistemology of Linguistics.
