Birthplace: Brazil

Pharmacist from the Federal University of Alfenas, with a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the State University of Campinas. He is currently Associate Professor IV at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Federal University of Alfenas. He was Deputy Provost for Research and Graduate Studies and Research Coordinator at the Federal University of Alfenas, and a member of the Health Sciences Advisory Board of the Minas Gerais State Research Support Foundation. He works on the development of new sorbents and new sample preparation techniques for the analysis of organic and inorganic compounds, for biotechnological applications and in toxicological analysis in the areas of food, medicine and the environment. He recently developed the Direct Magentic Sorbent Sampling in Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (DMSS-FAAS) and Magentic Particle Spray Mass Spectrometry (MPS-MS) techniques, related to magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction followed by direct desorption in the flame of the atomic absorption spectrometer or at the inlet of the mass spectrometer, respectively. Recently, he has also worked on the use of smart sorbents in nanomedicine and in nanotoxicology studies. In 2024, he was awarded the Janusz Pawliszyn medal during the National Meeting of Analytical Chemistry, in Belém do Pará, for his work in the area of #8203;#8203;#8203;#8203;Sample Preparation.
