Júlia Tygel is a Brazilian composer, pianist and researcher. Ms. Tygel holds a PhD in music analysis from São Paulo University (USP), having developed part of the program at the City University of New York (CUNY) as a CAPES-Fulbright grantee. She graduated in Music/Composition at Campinas State University (UNICAMP) in 2006, where she also concluded her master degree studies in Ethnomusiclogy (2009). During her graduation and master degree, she received a grant from FAPESP, and during the PhD from CAPES. She was Artistic Assistant for São Paulo Orchestra (Osesp), editor of Revista Osesp 2021 (the orchestra's annual magazine) and since 2018 collaborates with the institution as author of program notIn 2011 she released her first CD, Entremeados (Intertwined), with support of the Prefecture of Campinas (São Paulo state), presenting this project in several theaters in Brazil and abroad.She is currently Professor at Souza Lima College (in São Paulo, associated to Berklee College of Music) and at a long-distance course offered by Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), working concomitantly as a pianist, arranger and composer in various musical projects.
