Historian, acting on the fields of African History, cultural history of slavery and history of black thought, with a Bachelor's degree on History from Universidade de São Paulo (2006), a Master's degree (2010) and a PhD degree (2015) on Social History from Universidade de São Paulo (including an exchange period at the University of Coimbra). He was fellow at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) from 2022 to 2023. He is currently professor of African History at the University of São Paulo (USP), since 2023, and was professor of African History at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) from 2016 to 2023. Furthermore, he has had previous professional experience as researcher at Afro Brasil Museum (São Paulo). Relevant subjects in his work include African Social Thought, African-American Religions, History of Angola, and History of Colonial Brazil. In 2017, his PhD dissertation "Captivity and cure: experiences of Atlantic slavery in Luzia Pinta's calundus, 17th-18th centuries" was awarded the Award for Young Social Researchers of Portuguese Language by the Center of Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He acts as coordinator in the research group "Itinerancies: the movement of actores and knowledges and the powers and resistances in Africa" (CNPq-UFMG/USP). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
