Pérola de Oliveira e Magalhães

Associate Professor of the Pharmacy Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Brasília (UnB), she was Coordinator of the Pharmacy Course at UnB from 2008 to 2011 and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences/UnB, from February 2018 to October 2022. Currently, she is Coordinator of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Courses at UnB. She has a degree in Industrial Pharmacy from the Federal University of Alfenas. PhD in Applied Microbiology from the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology at the University of São Paulo - EEL/USP. She completed a postdoctoral degree in Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo. Founder and one of the coordinators of the Natural Products Laboratory at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UnB, where research projects funded by CNPq, CAPES and FAPDF are developed, aiming to prospect biomolecules of pharmaceutical interest produced by microorganisms and plant species from the cerrado Brazilian. Member of the Brazilian Society of Microbiology since 2013. Research group leader certified by CNPq. In 2019 she stayed for 6 months as a visiting professor at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science at the University of Brighton, in the United Kingdom. In 2016 and 2022 she received the UnB Thesis Award for the Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences for a supervised master's thesis and for the PPG in Pharmaceutical Sciences for a supervised doctoral thesis. She maintains national and international collaborations, studying microorganisms and biomolecules of interest to human health expressed by endophytic fungi and soil fungi. She participates as an ad hoc evaluator for different funding agencies. In the last 10 years she has produced 72 scientific articles in international journals, and 3 book chapters. It has an H index: 26 (Scopus) and 3598 citations (July / 2024). She graduated 20 masters, 6 doctors, supervised postdoctoral studies and supervised 21 IC projects. She is a reviewer for more than 50 national and international journals. She is part of the editorial board of 3 international and 1 national journals and is currently Associate Editor of Frontiers in Fungal Biology and the Brazilian Journal of Microbiology.
