Meire Fortunato has been a research scientist at DeepMind in London since 2016, working on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Meire completed her bachelor's (2007) and master's degrees (2010) in Mathematics at Unicamp. In 2016, Meire received her PhD in Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, with a thesis on numerical methods for meshing. Meire has experience in supervised and reinforcement learning, with an emphasis on topics such as sequence modeling, exploration, and memory blocks. Currently, her research focus is on how to use neural networks to produce accurate and efficient simulations in science and engineering. Meire is a member of the general committee and co-founder of Khipu.ai, an effort to strengthen the AI community in Latin America. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
