Augusto Moralez was named Chair of the Percussion Department at the Federal University of Alagoas/Brazil in fall 2013 where he teaches percussion with emphasis on percussion keyboards, direct the University of Alagoas Percusion Ensemble, and direct the PercUfal International Percussion Festival of Alagoas. He did a specialization in percussion keyboards at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg / France with the renowned Emmanuel Séjourné, where he received his diploma with the highest honors (Très bien à l'unanimité avec les félicitations du jury). He has been highly honored with national and international prizes, as the APCA Award, Proac Award, Carlos Gomes Award, Tim Award and Bravo Award in Brazil, besides the Ady Mootz Award at the 2009 International Percussion Competition at Luxembourg. Part of his musical activities can be seen in more than 11 CDs and DVDs. He received his bachelor's degree at the University of São Paulo, master's degree at the University of Goiás and his PhD at the University of Campinas, all in Brazil.He has commissioned and premiered more than 30 new works for different arrangments involving the vibraphone. This repertoire has been presented in several important theaters in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Colômbia, México, Spain, France, Italy and Luxembourg. Part of this repertoire was recorded on CD, called Ameriphone, awarded by the Premio PROAC from the City of São Paulo government.Augusto Moralez has been frequently invited to give clinics and concerts in major percussion festivals in Latin-America, such as: 3, 4 and 6 Tatuí International Percussion Festival /Brazil, X International Marimba Festival/Mexico, 6 and 13 Festival Internacional de Percusión - General Roca/Argentina, 9 Festival Tamborimba - Cali/ Colômbia, , 6 Latin American Percussion Festival Uberlândia/Brazil, II Encontro de Percusión Medellin/Colômbia, and many others.He has played regularly in all principals national orchestras and symphonic bands as: Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo, Coro Sinfônico da Osesp, Orquestra Sinfônica da Usp, Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro - Brasília, such as the Orchestre dRhinwagges and Orchestre Filarmonie de Strasbourg in France. With de Orquestra Acadêmica, conducted by the legendary Kurt Mazur, he recorded a CD that won the Carlos Gomes Award and the Tim Award.He also played regularly in important national chamber music ensembles, such as: Camerata Aberta, Ensemble Percorso, Materiales, Ensemble Lami, Ensemble BrassUka. His recordings with the Ensemble Musica Nova and the Baqte Ensemble are both winners of the Bravo Music Award.He played in several Broadway musical theater shows in Brazil, such as The Lion King, Evita, Jekyll and Hyde and many others.
