Renato Sonchini Goncalves

Graduated in Chemistry and holds a Masters degree in Materials Science from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), having completed his academic training with a Ph.D. in Organic Physical Chemistry at the State University of Maringá (UEM). He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), where he serves as Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPQuim) and as a member of the Scientific Committee for the Exact Sciences area of the Institutional Program for Scientific and Technological Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC/PIBITI). His scientific work is focused on the development of Natural Product Nanotechnology (NNP), Combined Therapy (CT), and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for the treatment of Cancer and Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (IPD), the development of photo-chemotherapeutic drugs, and the optimization of synthetic processes. He is part of the coordination team of the Natural Products Chemistry Laboratory (LQPN) at UFMA, where he supervises both undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to their academic and scientific training. Furthermore, he stands out as the coordinator of Research and Technological Innovation Projects and actively participates in Extension Projects. He is a FAPEMA research productivity fellow, has supervised 5 undergraduate research students, currently advises 2 masters students and 6 undergraduate researchers.
