I have been a lecturer in the Departamento de Estatística at Universidade Federal de São Carlos since 1985. I obteined a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1978), a Master's in Statistics from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1987) and a PhD in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lancaster"-UK (1993). Currently I have directed the research for data modeling with mixtures of distributions with applications to the analysis of data from areas such as health, financial and genomic. My interest has been concentrated in Computationaly Intensive Statistical Methods, as Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC), Revesible Jump and Data Driven Reversible Jump (DDRJ) focused on estimation of mixture models, QTL identification models, diagnostic tests and treatment of images.
