She holds a Bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of São Paulo (1975), a Master's degree in Statistics from the University of São Paulo (1980) and a PhD in Statistics from the University of São Paulo (1989), working mainly on the following topics: generalized additive models, non- parametric regression, robust regression, environmental data analysis and geographically weighted regression. Participated in the project to validate the verbal autopsy (VA) questionnaire in São Paulo, with conventional autopsy as the gold standard, at the request of the Ministry of Health. Participated in a global protocol to carry out a prospective meta-analysis (PMA), coordinated by WHO, to evaluate the performance of adding questions related to COVID-19 to the verbal autopsy in the mortality surveillance processes for this disease. She is currently a member of the team of two PPPP - Public Policy Research Program (FAPESP). One of them is related to improving the definition of the cause of death through the application of AV - WHO version of 2022 - in locations in the State of São Paulo where there is no death verification service. The second project aims to detect, quantify and reduce the damage caused by violence against children and adolescents in the city of São Paulo. She also participates in a thematic project in which the validation of the new AV questionnaire (WHO-2022 version) will be carried out and the study of the spatialization of diseases in the city of São Paulo using autopsy data will be performed.
