He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Itajubá - UNIFEI, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP, with a sandwich period at Budapest University of Technology and Economics - BME. He completed his postdoctoral studies with a FAPESP scholarship (São Paulo Research Foundation) in Topological Optimization research at the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP, with a sandwich period at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology - RMIT.
