Biologist and Research Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Gustavo currently works with microbiology, molecular genetics, and enzymes degraders of thermoplastics (polyolefins and polystyrene, mainly). Bachelor in Biological Sciences by UNICAMP (Campinas, Brazil), PhD and Masters in Genetics and Molecular Biology by the same institution, having conducted his research at the Brazilian Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBR-CNPEM), under supervision of the PIs Juliana Velasco de Castro Oliveira, PhD (LNBR, UNICAMP) and Gustavo H. Goldman, PhD (USP-Ribeirão Preto, Brazil). Postdoc at the University of Helsinki, in the Dr. Kristiina Hildén's group, in the area of degradation of lignin and aromatic compounts. Gustavo has vast experience on the following topics: microbiology, genetics, plastic degradation, sugarcane bagasse degradation, (hemi)cellulases, enzymes, omics of filamentous fungi (RNA-Seq, GC-MS, NMR), enzymatic cocktail, 2G ethanol, microbial transformation, aromatic metabolism, bioinformatics tools and macromolecules analyses.
