Cristiana Libardi Miranda Furtado

PhD in Genetics from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP/USP), with a sandwich period at Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) in the Netherlands. She was a Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) (2018-2020), in the Postgraduate Programme in Medical and Surgical Sciences, and a Visiting Researcher at LUMC in 2018 and 2019. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR), where she coordinates the Genomics and Bioinformatics Laboratory. She works as a researcher at the Centre for Drug Research and Development of the UFC (NPDM) and the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the FMRP/USP. She is a professor in the postgraduate medical sciences program at UNIFOR and the postgraduate translational medicine program at UFC. Her research focuses on the identification of (epi)genetic mechanisms related to infertility, embryonic development, and cancer. She coordinates and collaborates in several research projects, including the scientific coordination of PRONON for the genetic and epigenetic characterization of myelodysplastic syndrome and participation in the Genomas Brasil project for her line of research on penile cancer. She is a CNp2 Level 2 Research Productivity Fellow with a network of national and international partners, including researchers from LUMC, the University of Utah, and Brigham Young University. She is the Editor of Frontiers in Oncology (Genetics) and acts as a reviewer for international journals: Reproductive Sciences, Journal of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, Scientific Reports, BMC Genomics, Frontiers in Oncology, and PNAS. She received an Honourable Mention from the CAPES Thesis Award in 2020 as co-supervisor. In the field of scientific dissemination, she coordinates the Instagram profile @epigen_daily, which, together with her research group, disseminates knowledge about epigenetics, reproduction, and cancer using accessible language.
